We are not to be overwhelmed by what we see — but equipped by what we know.
There is something unusual about this season. You can feel it — in the news cycle, in conversations, in the quiet unease that has settled over much of the world. But what the believer must resist is the temptation to interpret current events without the lens of Scripture. God did not leave us to guess. He was intentional about making the signs of the last days recognizable — and equally intentional about telling us how to stand in them.
The Apostle Paul wrote plainly: “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.” The word perilous carries more weight than most realize. In the original language it means dangerous, terrorizing, hazardous — unsafe. It is the same word used to describe the demoniacs of Matthew 8, who were so violent no one could pass by that way. That is the kind of season Paul is describing.
Many believers immediately reach for the headlines — failing economies, rising crime, social fracture — and those things are indeed present. But the deeper assignment is not to audit the world. It is to cultivate spiritual alertness and to prepare the soul. The peril Paul warns about is not merely external. It begins in the heart.
Jesus Himself gave us a framework — wars and rumors of wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes. What is remarkable is not just the list of signs but the instruction that accompanies them:
“See that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.”
Matthew 24:6
These are the beginning of sorrows — not the end of the story. The Lord was not describing a season designed to undo His people. He was describing a season His people were designed to endure. Your heart is not meant to faint. It is meant to remain anchored — not in the stability of nations, but in the immovability of His Word.
One of the most urgent concerns for this hour is what Scripture calls the great falling away. And it is not happening the way most people imagined it would.
Many who were well-equipped — who had sat under sound teaching, who had been given every tool to navigate this season — have surrendered the care of their souls to voices they knew were off course with God. The world is merging with the church. Things that are abominations before God are being welcomed into houses of faith, and the shepherds are allowing it. This is not a time for spiritual passivity. The believer who is passive in this season will find themselves carried by whatever current is loudest.
The instruction in 1 John 4:1 is not a suggestion — it is a command:
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1 John 4:1As the appearing of the antichrist draws nearer, the darkness will not announce itself. It will come dressed in familiar language, wearing the appearance of grace and relevance. The antidote is not suspicion — it is saturation. Take hold of the Truth of God’s Word and bury it deep in your heart. What is rooted cannot be uprooted.
Not in commentary about the Word — in the Word itself. The logos must come before the rhema. Read before you reach for a word.
2 Timothy 3:16What you receive shapes how you perceive. Every voice must be tested against Scripture. Proximity to sound teaching is not optional.
1 John 4:1Intercession is the first response of the alert believer. Watch unto prayer — not as a ritual, but as a war posture.

Proverbs 11:14There is no ambiguity about what is required of us in this hour. Peter makes it plain:
“The end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves.”

Sober. Watchful. Praying. Loving. These are not passive postures — they are active disciplines, available to every believer regardless of how chaotic the surrounding environment becomes. This is a time of proving, of perfecting, and of purpose. The suffering and adversity of this season are not signs of God’s absence. They are the fires that refine His people — and the theater in which He reveals His glory.
The gospel of the Kingdom must be preached to all nations — and then the end shall come. That is not a burden. That is a commission. We have work to do, and the Lord has prepared us for exactly this moment.
You are not behind. You are not unprepared. You are exactly where He needs you — awake, anchored, and moving.
The Lord did not assign you to this generation by accident. He placed you here because you are equipped to stand in it.
His Truth is sufficient to navigate you through every situation, every circumstance, and every relationship this season will bring.
